UP WITH THE MOOD, UP WITH THE MEMORY

People with better moods and more positive attitudes have healthier and less inflamed brains. Engage in at least one social activity every day to maintain a good mood and a positive outlook. A healthy brain is a happy brain.

Activities to do with another person

In company

o1

Talk with a loved one to find out how their day has been.

o2

Greet and talk to your neighbors to see how they are and how their day has been.

o3

Invite a family member or friend to have lunch or tea.

o4

Invite a family member or friend to cook something delicious and healthy.

o5

Visit a family member or friend at their home.

o6

Choose a game (e.g., cards, trivia, mobile, or computer games) and enjoy some playtime with someone else.

o7

Plan a shopping trip (market, mall, stores, or buying bread) with a family member or friend. Use the outing as an opportunity to chat.

o8

Go for a walk around the neighborhood, to the park, or do physical activity with a family member or friend. A brain with company is stronger.

o9

Regularly participate in a workshop of your interest or a seniors' club.

10

Plan fun outings like going to the museum, cinema, or theater with your family or friends.

A good mood and an active social life strengthen the mind, helping to prevent Alzheimer’s in the future.

Activities to do on your own

In your space

o1

Choose a playlist of songs that bring back beautiful and good memories, and then listen to them. You can write down the lovely memories they evoke.

o2

Look at yourself in the mirror and say things you like about yourself. Write down the good things you’ve gained over the years. Maintain an attitude of kindness and respect toward yourself.

o3

Write a list of things and purposes you would like to do in your life and that you have not done yet. Do not be afraid to dream. Then share it with someone and have a good time.

o4

Get up every day and look for a purpose for the day. Set a goal you can achieve. At the end of the day, think about whether you were able to achieve it or not. If not, write it down for the next day.

o5

Do relaxation exercises, such as deep breathing while looking at the sky and counting to 10, listening to a song that relaxes you, or asking someone to give you a small neck or foot massage. Relaxation is essential for maintaining a good mood.

o6

If you feel low or lonely, talk to someone you trust or seek help from a doctor or health professional. Don’t be afraid or ashamed—everyone has felt this way at some point in life.
